Hot-on-the-heels of last weekend’s British Grand Prix and two months before our first 10 Days of Data event, we caught up with our opening keynote speaker, Formula 1 Strategist Neil Martin, on why data matters.

Over the last three decades, Neil has been Head of Strategy for McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull, utilising data analytics to accurately forecast performance and manage risk across a wide range of scenarios. Software based on Neil’s designs is now used by more than half of the Formula 1 grid.

We’re excited that you’ll be opening at our flagship event this year! What can people expect?

Inspiration and insight about how data can drive innovation and improve performance. I’ll be talking through Formula 1’s data journey and the way in which we have applied data insights to become a successful £1billion business. For those who are interested in Formula 1 and want to understand how data is at the forefront of this sport, I think they’ll find the event particularly interesting. Equally, anyone who is looking to drive their business forward and eager to find out more about the value of data within their business would find this session valuable.

What will you be talking about?

I’ll be taking you through how we’ve used data and analytics throughout my career in Formula 1 from mitigating risk to optimising performance. I’ll be talking about some key elements I’ve delivered in my career such as mission control rooms, driver-in-the-loop simulators and predictive analytics. By talking about my experiences with data and insight, I hope to provide attendees with inspiration on why data matters how data can really add value to their business.

Why should people attend the event?

Data is crucial to our lives and in recent months we’ve seen how data has played a major part in the efforts to curb the pandemic. For businesses, there is a wealth of data and insight ready to be tapped into and it should be at the core of your business decisions. I want to share my experiences to help people feel empowered and inspired about how they can shape their business and drive it forward through data insights.

Offering something for everyone, 10 Days of Data will run September-October to bring together inspiring and exciting content from sector thought leaders and experts, across 10 90 minute bite size events.

We also offer an organisation passport, that includes exclusive additional fringe events. Organisation passports are available now from only £455 + VAT (for Housemark members). An organisation passport gives two people from your organisation a ticket to explore the value of data across your business and the chance to takeaway tangible insights that can be implemented across your company.
