Online good practice
HouseMark’s members have exclusive access to a comprehensive online collection of housing information and good practice whenever they need it.
Use our good practice knowledge base to browse by subject area or use the search engine to find exactly what you need. The Value for Money and Procurement pages will be your starting point to planning efficiency savings or developing a value for money strategy.
Well researched case studies are supported by additional material to download.

Inspection Focus is a section of our website devoted to inspection guidance, advice, reports and positive practice. Search through the mass of inspection reports to find who are the best performers and learn from their initiatives. Developed in partnership with the Audit Commission, it brings together all positive practice identified by Housing Inspectors, allowing you to search or browse by Key Lines of Enquiry. Good practice from Scotland and from Welsh housing association inspections is also included.
Ombudsman Says is a partnership project between HouseMark, the Housing Ombudsman, the Local Government Ombudsman, the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales and the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman to publish case digests of the most important Ombudsman decisions. In this section of our website you can learn from real examples of social landlord complaints handling and search by keyword, topic, determination and tenure.
The HouseMark knowledge base gives you the information resources you need at your fingertips:
- Selected Resources: links to carefully chosen published housing information, including
government and regulator guidance, books, journal articles and electronic
media
- Advice Notes on a wide range of issues
- Organisation A to Z to help you find that elusive website.
But HouseMark is more than just a website. You can call our help line, exchange ideas with colleagues through our forum, network with peers, and meet HouseMark staff at performance improvement clubs.
